This was the last salmon of 2008 - a late season chum buck taken on an egg sucking bunny leech on a sea-to-sky flow.
I was planning on taking a break from swinging the fly for all of December and hoping to hit the rivers again a day or two after Jan 1st but we were slammed with a nice snow storm that has made much of the flows inaccessible for now. Temps have warmed up over the past few days and we’re now in the midst of a pineapple express - heavy, heavy rain. Not only is stream side access still tough due to the snowpack, but the rivers a blown too.
Until things clear up in the next few days I’ll pass the time by some skiing in cement mix. Bulls, dollies, coastal cutthroat and maybe a steelhead await me thoughout the winter.
